Magic School! [Open]
[OOC: It's exactly what it says on the tin: magic school! Where the more magically apt teach those less so to use what they've been unwillingly given. Feel free to make subthreads to teach or to learn, and assume this is all taking place in the park on the same(ish) day.]
TK and Not blowing yourself up 101
Or did you just hurt yourself in one of the other lessons and need a doctor? Here's Bones, Medkit in hand, scowl on his face, glowering at the whole congregation. ]
Kirk needs the remedial course, clearly
Tell me repeated static shocks is the one thing you don't have a list of deadly side effects for.

[ Giving Jim a solid scan will tell him how much this has messed with his nervous system already. ]

Target Practice AKA Bet You Can't Hit Me!
In the suit he can take a beating and he can get out of the way pretty quick if he needs to. Might take him a little while to wander on back to the park but he'll make it eventually. So here's him, suited up, helmet on his hip, grinning his wide jackass grin. ]
Seriously. Bet you can't hit me.

You might wanna put your helmet on.

[ York smirks, rocking back on his heels. ]
When someone steps up to take a swing I'll put it on.

Pretty sure these two haven't had the chance to meet yet
[Oh yea, Epsilon is familiar enough with the kind of damage magic can do, so forgive him for disliking the thought. He likes York. He's cool. Well the one in other place he was in was cool. Taught him fighting.]
nope, not even once
[ Because some shit he'll own up to, most he won't. On account of- well. Who the hell wants to hear about his baggage? No one. ]

Can I bum one of those off you?
[ He nods at the protein bars and water. All this magic business made a man hungry. ]

[He jumps when Kirk addresses him and drops focus completely, the loose, half-formed sphere between his hands dissipating in a puff of air. There's a moment of disorientation during shifting mental gears where his first reaction to Kirk's words is to reach for the pack of cigarettes he doesn't have because he quit smoking years ago- but that's not what Kirk's talking about. Right.]

That could be good enough for now-
Suddenly, she's jarred out of her thoughts by a gust of wind shoving her backwards. Unable to abide that, she pushes back against it such that one would think she was doing some kind of mime routine. And just as quickly as it came it dies away, leaving Peridot to fall face first into the dirt. She pushes herself up, dusts herself off, and begins an annoyed search for the source. That did NOT follow established weather patterns on this primitive world!]

[Still.]
You okay?

Hey. How're you doing?

Teach me! With potentially shocks
So you can find him sitting down concentrating hard on what looks to be a music player, the music going in and out as he tried to work the basic controls. The music is as rock as he can find, though he was beginning to wonder if something of a more instrumental and classical bent wouldn't help. That was supposed to help with concentration and IQ right? Naw. Rock was more fun.
And whoops, there was an especially loud squeal of guitars followed quickly by a yelp as he touched the machine and got himself shocked - again. ]
This is getting old.
Teach me! Though I will not ask for help and probably set everything on fire
And yet Casey can't even seem to manage that. You have to make enough fire to form into a ball, and then you have to form it into a ball and fire...just kind of catches on everything.
Long story short, what flies through the air isn't a fireball so much as a burning fingerless glove that slipped off his hand.]
Whoops! Heads up!
[Hopefully someone will stomp that out.]

Why are you wearing gloves when you create fire from your hands?
no subject
'Cause they look cool!
An' they keep the splinters outta my hands when I use my hockey sticks, that too.

As is, he's just popped a few seed packets into the dirt, and sat back with his guitar in wait for things to develop.
Yup. He's literally watching grass grow. He may or may not have fallen asleep. ]

[Um.]
[He raises his voice a little bit, acting about as casual as he can.]

A Gem's Guide to Magic
So... magic.
I've never really been a teacher before, but I do have plenty of experience with it. For Gems, my people, it tends to come very naturally. It works differently for everyone- some need to focus, some need to relax- it's very much something connected to our emotional state. And so far as I can tell, the magic here seems to be very similar.
So, if you've tapped into your magic before, try and remember what you were feeling in that moment, and try to replicate it. Keep practicing, until it's second nature- until even in the middle of a raging battle, you can keep a level head and use your abilities.
Just keep in mind- a lack of emotional control might mean a lack of magical control, as well. It's still something I'm having to re-learn myself, with the magic I've gotten here.
Now, I want you to try that- see if you can use and control your magic, first of all, before we get started really learning.
