The Moon Also Rises
[Ever just had one of those days where everything is really irritating?]
[It isn't that Luna is unaccustomed to this kind of treatment. The last time she was drawn into another world to fight a war that wasn't hers, the culprit hadn't even had the decency to show their face. On the other hoof, her indignance had faded much faster when she couldn't aim it at anyone specific. Couldn't that Lux have allowed her to retain her magic - or at least her Dream Eaters - if she's meant to be fighting monsters here? What, would he prefer she kick them to death?]
[And these humans! Rude!]
[This pony can be found walking with head held deliberately high and wings tense at her side, meeting the eyes of passerby with unspoken challenge. She doesn't expect them to fling themselves at her feet, but a little common courtesy to a newcomer is not that great a thing to ask. All she wanted was to find a place of residence, honestly.]
[No matter. There must be others like her here, if patterns hold true - she'll find them.]

[Oh. Uh. Wait. That wasn't what Casey expected at all.]
...Does that mean you're not going to stomp my face in?
no subject
[At the very least, she sounds more tired and perhaps irritated than angry. Rudeness is one thing; frightening children is quite another.]
no subject
[Man, now he feels sort of embarrassed.]
Sorry...Just that I got attacked by a giant shadow horse monster a few months back. Broke my leg fighting that monstrosity. You kinda looked like it so I thought...
[He coughs, standing up.]
Uh...anyway, I'm fine.
no subject
[She actually thinks she probably does. It's still an awkward way to meet.]
I am Luna, Princess of Equestria. [For whatever little the title is worth in this place, she still IS.]
no subject
Oh, like the other one! What's-her-name...Celestia! You know her?
Anyway, I'm Casey Jones, vigilante warrior. [He takes out and spins his hockey sticks in what he thinks is an impressive manner as he says that, and then drops it to casually lean on it.] Nice to meetcha!
no subject
A pleasure...you know my sister?
no subject
I met her once. She's pretty cool.
[Don't most royal siblings end up killing each other to take the throne? Or maybe it works different in magic horse land. Even CASEY isn't quite tactless enough to ask.
...but he is still dying to know.]
Are all pegacorns royal in your world, or is it just you two? Or are you the only two?
no subject
Alicorns. And there are four of us now - the ruler of the Crystal Empire, and my sister's student. [Who doesn't really rule anything she's just kinda there. Luna's answering absently anyway; this is not the conversation she's interested in.] Is she still in the city?
no subject
As far as I know, yeah, but I haven't seen her in awhile. Figure that giant flying horse-alicorns go wherever they want.

[Looking around where are these high-rises]
no subject
Uh...I could show ya?
no subject
I would appreciate it, if it is no trouble.
no subject
...Heh, bet you're used to, like, a whole army of knights wherever you go, right? What's the word? Procession?
no subject
Regardless, I can protect myself. When my magic remains mine. [Not bitter!]
no subject
[Look at him. Magic STILL gets him super excited.]
I didn't even HAVE magic before I got here, so they've probably given you something wicked awesome!
no subject
And what magic do you have now, pray tell?
no subject
Fire! Check it!
[Except don't check it because he can't seem to get a spark going. He can feel the heat in his hands, but it won't seem to come into an actual flame...
Improvise, improvise...darting his eyes until a plan comes to him, he snags a leaf out of a nearby tree and sure enough, it starts curling and smoking. He holds it out to her like that was totally his plan all along.]
no subject
[She doesn't think that was his plan at all, but embarrassing him won't make the magic come any easier. It's like a unicorn foal.]
I have known unicorns with talents in fire - it takes a great deal of training to battle in that manner, of course.

[Not going to mention the carnival he's already almost burned down...]

[THIS ONE LOOKS VERY YOUNG]
no subject
[Sometimes, as he's learned, people don't take him seriously when he tells them WHAT he fights. He's in full Lone Vigilante Hero mode.]
My city is swarming with evil, a plague only Casey Jones can wipe out! Sure, it's a tough job, but nobody comes tougher than me!
no subject
I see.
Ah, but, there is certainly no cause to fight alone here! We were all brought for the same purpose! [DO NOT RUN OUT TO CHASE SHADOW MONSTERS HUMAN CHILD]
