Testing - Robot Centaurs are hard, and broken bones are ignored by those who want to keep working.
[Anyone close to the old observatory this evening can easily tell that something is happening over there, as there is plenty of bashing, crashing and general workshop noise coming from the makeshift workshop right outside it's entrance. The cause of the commotion, Daniel is working on a robot.
And not just any robot. Anyone who had met the man and his assistant/compatriot Cam can easily recognize the structure being built upon as the skeleton of a much scaled up version of the inventor's small friend. However, things do not seem to be going well with the construction right now, Daniel doesn't seem to have enough hands to do all the things he's trying to do at once, and Cam is nowhere near big enough to help in more than a fine detail capacity, which isn't what is needed right now.
As people watch, Daniel loses his grip on a rather large piece of metal shaped somewhat like a forearm. The piece of metal falls almost gracefully, right on top of Daniel's left foot. With a cry of pain, the young inventor sinks down onto one knee, clutching his injured foot. Cam detaches themself from the innards of the robotic centaur, a section in the chest which looks like something could fit in there once the thing is complete, and scampers on over to an already open medical kit. This appears to have not been the first injury Daniel has dealt to himself today.
Someone could probably do a better job of patching Daniel up than Cam, purely because the poor robot just isn't very big and doesn't have the right size hands to help Daniel take off his boot and help set the young inventor's broken foot. That piece of metal was apparently rather heavy indeed, or just fell in exactly the wrong way. Now might be the time to step in, before the idiot manages to hurt himself further.]

[He'd stopped nearby the observatory, and for a few minutes he'd watched Daniel and Cam working on the metallic centaur, silently assessing the other man's work.]
[Presently, Daniel had started to hoist a bulky bit of metal, and Bruce had had enough time to realize disaster was incoming, but not enough to actually shout out a warning before Daniel dropped it on his foot.]
[Bruce winced, and hurried over.]
Are you okay?
[Bruce's gaze went from Daniel's face to his foot, and Cam's attempts to minister to it.]

Daniel looks up at Bruce as he approaches, grimacing at him. Daniel's face is pale from the pain and his voice is somewhat faint.] I think I broke something...

[Bruce promptly kneels down and gently pushes Cam out of the way. Provide the little robot cooperates, he then applies himself to removing Daniel's boot as carefully as he can.]

Daniel's face has gone slightly ashen with the pain, but he nods his head in thanks. He does, however, grunt and wince from the pain as Bruce takes off his boot; his injury is starting to swell and is turning a nasty purple colour with bruising.]
Thanks... How bad is it? [Daniel is studiously looking everywhere but at his foot, quite understandably too because it does not look good.]
no subject
Well it looks terrible, but I don't think we'll need to cut it off. If you've got the right materials in your first aid kit, I'll see about making a splint.

Wincing at the pain of having his foot, Daniel manages to direct Cam back towards the large robot they were building when the small robot has delivered the first aid kit.
Cam trots back over to the larger machine, seemingly walking up it's metal flank to the chest, where they squeeze inside the chassis and begin work again. Daniel, still ashen from the pain, is still looking everywhere but his foot.] That's good at least. How soon before I can walk again? I don't have time to waste in a hospital.
no subject
It should take about six to eight weeks, depending on the break. But you really should go to the hospital and get it x-rayed. How's it feeling right now?
no subject
I agree with you. But how the hell am I gonna get there? [There isn't anything Daniel could use to wheel himself down to the hospital in, and there's nothing resembling a crutch that he could use in an attempt to hobble down there.
Daniel grimaces again as another wave of pain hits, paling further.]

I don't suppose we'd be able to call a cab? [His gaze shifts from Daniel's foot, to the observatory looming behind the two of them. An attractive structure it might be, but even if it does have a functioning phone, Bruce doesn't know the number of any cab services in Freesia, and he doubts Daniel does either.]
If not, I could help you walk there.
[Or straight up carry Daniel, if necessary, though Bruce suspects Daniel wouldn't care for that.]
no subject
I'd appreciate that, though you've already done so much, I'm sure I'm imposing on you in some way. [Daniel looks a little guilty at having distracted Bruce from his day, but he is clearly thankful for the assistance Bruce has already given. It's just that he's grown up being overly polite and it's a very hard habit to break.]
